hmmm.

while everyone's nestling in the CC or LT's seat having H1 lecture now, i'm at home icing my lip in front of the screen. hah how cool yea? lol

ahah got my face smashed right onto the ground during gym trng. right now ive been bestowed with the most kissable lips and a pretty red black 'moustache'/scab above the lips. 

haha ok that was totally random crap. but not going to school today just made me think of some stuffs which concerns us all already.

2008. It's begun and in 10 months time we're gonna have undoubtedly the most important exam in our life. Cliche or familiar to you, it's the bare-naked and stark truth gazing at us. So it comes down to the question of how we're gonna deal with the year ahead- to live by it with intermittent/perpetual hardwork (er ok intermittent cos, it was for me at least. bleah) like last year or to fire up some passion and get serious and going now. 

BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND.

OK OK let's look at this again. WHO IN THE WORLD DOESN'T WANT 4As for a levels?! Hah so i guess the only direction we're supposed to work towards is just there and nothing short of that.

i'm back from ocip at karimun island
during the past 6 days, i've experienced alot of things that i normally wouldn't
i was assigned to work at the primary school site, so the children there are around 6 to 12 years old. i'm really amazed at their childlike innocence. the way they can be satisfied or content when someone gives them a sweet. where else can you find this? and they are so willing and able to carry heavy stuff. a child so much younger than me has the strength to carry a big bucket of cement that i'm not able to carry and are so willing to help.(:
i met this girl who is called malisa, photo of her later. she always smiles at me whenever i look at her. she is so pretty(cantik). during these few days, she has opened up to me and talked to me. but whenever she talks, she speaks in malay so i don't understand a single word of what she is saying.really, that is a pity.):
and there is this boy whom i passed my camera to. he is so fascinated at my camera that he walks around with it to take photos. he is a very respectful boy, always taking pictures of the teachers and principal. again, in singapore, where do you find such model students? even when in his school he isnt considered one.
then now, it's time to talk about my prefect! hermawan bayr(: he's ganteng! and very willing to help! and shy too! too bad he doesnt want to pacar with me!): lol that's being lame.other than that, i've learnt to construct a building out of bricks and cement. and i realise, being a construction worker is not an easy job. it requires lots of energy, patience and endurance.hm and i really love the karimun team! CLUB27 and THEBUS! we just enjoy eating, dancing and singing! HAHAHA! a really great bunch of people which i would not have known had it not been for OCIP. her majesty, boss, princess, bouncer, mr and mrs mocca, keropok, hantu, mrs blahblah, choreographer, VIP.(: wonderful people!tidal village was very interesting with wonderful scenery.
this feels like the start of something new.(:

OCIP Karimun Island (((((((((:

Hello one and all! hope you guys still doing fine. I think this post is going to be quite long. haha. cos i'm going to share what all of us did when we were in Indonesia. (And yes, everyone's missing the people still)

Well basically most of you would have known that Karimun Island is the hot island where Singaporean men normally go and find those ______ people. Yah. haha. So we took a ferry which was about 1 and a half hr? A bit shaky. but really cool when we went up to the top to see the seaview. ((:

On our way to the so-called bus stop, there were MANY men along the jetty there. whoa. i tell you ah. it's really quite siao. AND because our trip polo teees have our beautiful names on it. They took advantage of it and called our names. rawr. I didnt notice at first until i heard smth "jia hweee~~ x2" then suddenly "wai sooom~" when jiahui was like bhind me?! rawr. and they called our names like 3 times in a row can?! aherm. apparently they pronounce the alphabet "u" as "oo. So instead of wai SUM they pronounced wai sOOm. rawrrrr. that's pretty interesting. i didnt dare to look up seriously. cos i tried once. and they looked at us with funny stares. one men even said smth like "blah blah come to my place tonight!" 0.0 yah that's how scary it is (:

well oh well. thank God it lasted for a few minutes. after that we took a bus (a cool one) to our hotel! (: Hotel Padi Mas.

opposite hotel is the largest departmental store. Yup. cool eh. We'll go there and stock up on cheap biscuits snacks and drinks after we come back frm our work. (:

Thanks to Mr Ho's recommendation, we were very influenced and ate club sandwich as and when we like. muahaha. basically club sandwich itself consists of 3 layers of bread, cabbage, juicy tomatoes, mayo and cheeeeese. ohoh not forgetting fries and erh nice coleslaw :D

For our trip, we have to go to 2 worksites. hehe. secondary and primary. for secondary, we had to take another boatride to their island. whoa so it was like island after a island =/ i was being "posted" there. (: with jiahui. lolz. took motorbike there for the first time. man i hope my bf doesnt ride a bike. cos it's scccaarrrrryyyyyyy, but fun lah. the people there were very friendly (: the children would get very excited as tho they picked up some kg of gold when u wave back to them. how sweet. we did painting(the entire wall of the lib and mural painting) and some sawing of wood for the bkshelf. and lemme tell you, painting is nv easy (:

Every night, we'll go "club" and parteee at room 3327 =p woohoo. there we ate, watch teevee and dance. haha! girls only btw. until nights out time. lolx. srry cant share vid cos a bit censored. HAHA, we were reaaaaaallllly crazy (:

introducing ppl frm club 27! (btw, that was jiahui's legs - in blue trackpants. not mine. HAHA)

Air in S'pore's definitely much cleaner and fresher. The ppl there smoked like nobody's business? cos according to Suriyanti our exped leader, the cigarettes are uber cheap. something like 10 pkts there = 1 pkt here. mmmm. they even smoke in the hotel. bleah.

Saturday is a "beware" night for all girls. Cos this is the day where men will go find the women. lolz. so mus be careful and walk around in 2's or more! (: Jiahui and I were soooo scared okay. cos there were 2 men squatting outside the corridor for dunno what reason and they were there for a long time ): rawr.

Pri sch there also quite cool. built walls and cement stuff :D more interaction with the kids definitely. haha!

nv look down on them because their principal asked some to volunteer and help us CARRY BRICKS and transport SAND. (uber heavy i tell you) and they're jus pri 6?! their principal helped out too. mmm. really nice.

when i was cementing the walls, groups of girls and some boys would crowd around me. haha. cos i dunno how to speak their lang. i felt bad. cos i didnt noe how to engage them. all i knew was "kamu nyani" -> you sing. LOL. okay this is bad Malay. but erm. at least they sang songs like "twinkle" "i'm a lil teapot" to me. ((: i taught them english too!

on the last day, the children performed for us. Sang to the tune "auld lang syne" but in their language. they cried. we cried. it was a touching moment. ((: i'm sure none of us want to leave, but we have to. sobs. so we gave out sweets to them, and they in turn gave us letters or biscuits etc. how sweeeet.

that's about it. sorry it's a bit long. bleah. but we're def gg back next yr after A's to see how they're doing. ((((((((((((((:

it was after the 11-day village stay when i started taking out my phone to do stuff, maybe cause video became such a novelty after not using the phone for so long. ahaha

mmm ok first up's on the way back to town from the village. cool truck with our bags on top, usually sing a lot tgt in it to past the time.

Heh seriously, after so much of acapella-ing, it took me a while before i liked to use my mp3 back again, normal music turned to noise for a while.

ALRIGHT, so we're gonna have a CLASS BBQ. First of all, i'm sorry for the delay, like since forever. Hmm anw the class bbq'd be at my place prolly next wed, err the place's pretty spacious, there's a tennis court, multi-purpose ball court, pool, table-tennis/function room for us to use. And in the meantime think of some lil things to make the bbq more fun, well up to you!

Viet team is back!

Hello pretty girls and not-handsome guys!
sj is back! :D

I've had so much fun and learnt so much during my trip! Haha, I'm not going to like type out everything here, it's too much to talk about. But I suddenly miss blogging at my own blog.
XD

So let me share some pictures with everyone! Didn't take a lot with my camera because it was crazy most of the time.. Have to go and bug others for the pictures..

The culture at Vietnam is very different from Singapore. Let me share some of them!
Firstly, they don't have the concept of rubbish bins.. So everything is just on the floor. -.-
(Some of my team mates happily picked up this culture. HAHA)



They have terribly wonderful view there! This is so Google-ish right? Heh.


Secondly, they don't exactly have proper roads.. All roads are 2 directional and flooded with motorcycles. So if pedestrians want to cross the road, JUST CROSS MAN. They don't make way for you, so just cross and they'll siam. I've mastered the art of crossing their roads. x)



They don't need safety helmets and one motorbike even sit 4 people on it at once. Haha. This guy helps out at our host home! Cute daughter he has xD


Thirdly, the kids in the rural areas are really cute. They are so carefree and live their lives without stress. Go to school high up in the mountains and wear only those few clothes everyday. Doubt they bathe.. They can go up the steep slopes with so much ease but we take pains to go up everyday. They must think we're so lousy. Haha.. Yup we went to visit the last year's worksite and there was this little girl who held my hand and brought me to walk down the steep hill! So sweet :D

I think we're so lucky to be living in Singapore! Count your blessings fellow friends :) They enjoy their lives though, because they're so used to it. They might not like our culture if they come to Singapore. Haha.

This is Vietnam's famous noodle soup. It's like everywhere. Ate many many bowls of it. Haha.. It's delicious!



This is how they sell meat there. They don't practice proper hygiene but I think they have super strong stomach walls. x)

Yup, it was really a lot of fun and very enriching.. I love my teammates! XD
